What Does It Mean to Follow Jesus?
Jesus calls us to a radical way of life—one that leads us into true freedom. Becoming a disciple of Jesus isn’t just about following rules or traditions; it’s about embracing a relationship with Him that transforms us from the inside out. Discipleship means learning from Him, living like Him, and sharing His love with others.
Jesus’ Invitation: When Jesus calls people to follow Him, He invites them to experience the freedom of being fully aligned with God’s will. It’s not about rigid conformity, but about liberation through truth. In His teachings, Jesus reveals the path to living free from the burdens of sin, guilt, and fear.
Freedom Through Discipleship
To become a disciple means to be shaped by the truth of Christ’s words. Jesus’ truth doesn’t just inform us; it transforms us. His message of love, grace, and forgiveness breaks the chains that hold us back from living freely. As we grow in His truth, we gain the freedom to be who God created us to be, without the weight of shame or fear.
- Following Jesus means living in freedom from sin – His death and resurrection break the power of sin in our lives.
- Following Jesus means living in freedom from fear – Through His peace, we are no longer slaves to worry or anxiety.
- Following Jesus means living in freedom to love – Jesus’ love frees us to love others without boundaries.
Your Next Step: Embrace the Journey
Jesus’ invitation is clear: “Follow Me.” As you embark on this journey of discipleship, here are a few steps to take:
- Read His Words: Dive into the Scriptures and allow His teachings to shape your mind and heart.
- Live in His Love: Embrace the life-changing love of Jesus and extend that love to others.
- Walk in Freedom: Allow the truth of Jesus to set you free from anything that holds you back from fully following Him.
Join us as we walk this path of discipleship together. Jesus offers us the ultimate freedom—a freedom that comes only through Him.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
So if we are not realizing the life of abundance that He came to give us, we need to understand how we are to receive and walk in the abundance through His word. REAL Discipleship helps believers understand who they are in Christ and work with you to achieve the life that he came to give you.
